It might be what you listen to.
It might be who you put yourself with,
what you subject yourself to,
or even worse who you go on a date with...
Being someone you aren't only because you want to fit in.
Having this terrible attitude because something in the past left your heart broken.
It might be what you think about on a daily basis.
It might even be disliking someone that God wants you to love.
And the list goes on. Think of some things you have a hard time giving up to God?
Confession time, we all have things that we do not want to relinquish control over. Control is a big problem here, we think we can do whatever we want, when we want, wherever we want.
I can't lie, I have that problem. I'm a woman.
Just kidding you guys out there reading this. Men have plenty of control issues, think about it.
So what do I have problems with. I'm telling you this is hard to say.“And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” – Phil 4:19
I have a problem with being a PEOPLE PLEASER.
No matter how small the choice is, the chance, risk or whatever I always care so much.
All my people pleasers HOLLA!
I have struggled way more in the past, now that I am more mature I have learned some boundaries and techniques.
1. You can never please everybody, even if you wanted to. If you believe that you can, ask yourself if a single person has ever pleased you constantly?
2. If you have a deep relationship with God, He will protect you and guide you wisely as you make those choices.
3. Love God first, then love people. If your relationship is deep with God, everything else is going to fall into place. God is our confidence not our own human pride.
4. Say no, say it again, and say it yet again. It is ok to say no. God gives us the freedom of choice so why should we not have that when conversing plans, choices, risks, etc.
5. If you have a heart in tune with God, your conscience will be ready for life's bumps and curves.
I'm not saying it is easy. It's an everyday battle. This thing called surrender does not leave once you say God take it, it is a struggle and it can be used against you again. So I challenge you everyday to remember to relinquish God control of the battle. You on your own are a weak human being, selfish, prideful, sinful. God is holy, beautiful, glorious, and breathtaking. He will do what is right even if it means hurting people's opinions or what they think. He makes even them be joyful in this terrible situation.
I will tell you from personal experience in relationships, I've been let down. My father has always been there to provide, which I love, but I have been desperate for connection, something deeper. I can tell you, it takes work, it takes loving sports (Chicago Bears), loving cars, it takes a lot of work. I can tell you even after being alive for almost 21 years my dad and I know each other, but I have to call, I instigate deep convo's. But I tell you something after 21 years I have never been able to let go of that void and have it filled until I GAVE CONTROL TO GOD. Give IT UP!
My family is not perfect, my sisters and the new generations are beginning to look a lot brighter. Being the 1st generation Christians, first people who grew up in church, total new way of living. But it's got this spark in me. I've been blessed by followers of God around me and growing up as a God follower, and I couldn't live any other way.
God is holy, He holds the whole world in His hands.
He takes our rejection and fills it with love.
Have you ever thought about how many times God is rejected a day?
In a second? His name is spoken in vain in 1 minute?
Our God is way more confident, powerful, all knowing, pure, loving, caring, and beautiful than this whole world.
Another thing that we all talk about so much as young women and young men is relationships, dating, courting, etc.
Let me tell you, God is going to show you so follow His lead and the man or woman you get into a relationship with is one that will seek God the same way and maybe even challenge you to do more.
Look at one another as children of God not as another item to test out our charm on.
Don't expect it to be perfect either because God uses imperfection to make things beautiful inside and out. He will never give you more than you can handle, but when you start taking control back, there is possibly a way that you are twisting God's plan so it may end with a bang. Never lose focus on God, always have Him be number one. He is the one who will always be with you, no matter what happens, any circumstance. His plan will bring joy, peace, love, and excitement to your life. All the things this world has will fade away and God will reign.
I can challenge you to a few things. One is do devotionals everyday. Pray, surround yourself in God's love, word, and joy. He is waiting for you to follow Him, He's not forcing you into anything. But in the end look where human acts, pursuits of happiness, riches, fame get you in the end, empty, cold, left without a trace.
Pursue things that are pure and true. God will guide you, let Him control it and things will be lovely. Everyday surrender. Not a one time thing.
Giving up feelings.
Giving up attraction.
Striving for purity.
Striving for honor.
Striving for the glory of God.
But to quote one inspirational phrase by Joshua Harris in "Boy Meets Girl," "is yes looks shouldn't be the only thing that matter, but you need to be excited to go to bed with that person"
Can I just say A to the men? HOLLA!
If you have insecurities or struggles know it is going to take time. Giving it up once, slipping up, getting back up, surrender everyday.
Don't go after impulses.
Don't settle.
Be who you are in Christ.
Love.
Be Happy.
Live Loud for Jesus.
Run and jump for the things He set in your path.
Let time make things what they are meant to be.
People will fail you, but God is always faithful. - Dr. Watson
Remember this true and go in peace knowing He is with you :D
It's time to make your move, get up and dance, show us what you got, God lives through you :)
